Richmond's Pence Nissan Recommends the Honest Abe Test on Your Tires
You may take great care to ensure your Richmond Nissan is well-maintained and always looking good. Part of a regular maintenance schedule involves checking the tread on your tires to ensure you are operating your Nissan at the height of safety.
Tire tread is an important aspect of your vehicle's safety protocol. Without decent tread, your bald tire can blowout without any forewarning, leaving you susceptible to accidents or being stranded on the side of the road.
It can be difficult to judge whether or not the tread on your new or used Nissan is sufficient using only the naked eye. That is where the Lincoln penny comes into play. Using a penny as a trend gauge is a simple way to ensure you are operating your vehicle on safe tires.
Here is how you use a penny as a tire tread gauge:
Take a penny and place it into the tread of your tire. President Lincoln's head should be facing down.
Look at the penny and see if any part of Lincoln's head is showing. If it is visible, your tire does not have enough tread and will need to be replaced. If there is not clear image of Lincoln's head visible, the amount of tread on your tire is safe at this time.
Regular checks of tire tread and a watchful eye for other signs of damage is key to a car's safety.
