Finding Inspiration For Custom Greeting Cards
Custom greeting cards can sometimes be hard to create. Everybody wants the design to be perfect and it is quite hard to decide which one to use to get the most impact from the person receiving the custom greeting cards. If you are finding yourself all out of ideas for greeting card printing, then you have to find ways to engage your creative mind and get some new inspiration. In this article, I will give you four useful tips in finding inspiration for your color greeting cards.
1. Looking at other kinds of art
Inspiration can come from many places, especially when it comes to greeting cards. Since custom greeting cards are very flexible in terms of content, there is absolutely no limit to the things that you can put onto it. If you are getting stuck however, then you might want to look at other kinds of art, to jog your mind and get inspiration. For example, you can try looking at poster designs, as well as catalog and magazine covers to find inspiration for your greeting cards. Also of course you can look at paintings, sculptures, architecture and fashion as sources of inspiration. In most cases, you can find something very interesting and unique that can be easily applied as a design element in your custom greeting cards.
2. Finding good things in nature
Nature is also a good teacher of good artistic taste. If you find artificially made designs boring and overrated then you can just source your inspiration from Mother Nature herself. You can walk in the park and admire the beautiful trees, plants and animals. You can look at the sky, the clouds and the wonderful sunset. Everything in nature can have its own sense of aesthetic design, and sometimes it can be quit interesting to use them into greeting cards. For example you can use the color combinations at sunset to get a nice awe inspiring cover for your greeting card. You can also look at the leaves of plants and find a good way to layout your greeting card. So do not take Mother Nature for granted and listen to what she can teach us about design.
3. Browsing greeting card templates
Browsing through templates is also a great idea to get inspiration. There are many greeting card templates on the Internet and most have very good and professional looking designs. You can make your imagination run wild as you find good and not so good designs for greeting cards. In time though, you might be able to see something you can improve upon, or something that can be approached from a different angle in terms of greeting card design. So templates can also be helpful in keeping your mind at work in designing.
4. Rebooting your creative side
Finally, if all else fails, you may want to reboot your creative side a bit. Take a break from brainstorming, relax and do something else. You can try reading a book, writing in a blog, watching movies or anything in between. Sometimes your mind just needs to rest and focus on something else for other newer ideas to pop out in your mind. You never know, that new idea might just come from the other things you are doing.
So those are four tips on finding inspiration for greeting cards. You can use these techniques to jog your imagination into gear and hopefully find the right concept for greeting card design that your readers will want.
