Concert Posters and Collecting Them
When you are into collecting posters, one of the rare and probably harder posters to come by is concert posters. These posters are more difficult to find since these are often seen only during the time when these events are being promoted and once the said concert is done and over with, so are these posters. Collecting posters such as these can be pretty challenging since they are rather hard to find but when you do find them, specifically those that are popular and in somewhat good condition, they are well worth it.
People who collect posters made for concerts know that these things are rather rare since they are only produced for the purpose of promoting the show that is about to happen on a certain date. Once the show has passed, there won’t be any need for these posters which is why production of such promotional materials is kept low. Collectors who look for authentic concert posters from some of the big name artists in the world know what to look for when it comes to posters with value and if you want to become a serious Concert Poster collector, you should also know what to look for when you want to have a collection that is worth anything.
One of the draws of collecting posters that represent concerts that were staged long ago is their rarity and some people who think that they can make a quick buck out of people who are into collecting these things create replicas or reproduction of such posters. Those who know how to tell which posters are authentic and which ones are knock offs know that these replicas are not what they are looking for and can tell if they are true posters for old concerts or not. Some of the telltale signs of a replica include newness and no signs of aging of the paper and the lack of fading of the colors of the poster. These are but a few signs of replicas or fakes and usually avid collectors can easily tell whether old posters for concerts that they find being sold to them are replicas, fakes or reproductions.
If you want to start collecting concert posters, you may need to do a little research first about them, how they look, where to find them and the value they may bring you one day. These are often pretty tough to come by since most people in the past do not really keep these posters beyond the date of the concert itself, except if the person who has one was a fan who went and watched that particular concert. Still, the possibility of the same person having this poster they kept of a certain concert they watched as a teenager still being intact is a rather long shot since teenagers do grow up and posters get taken down walls once this happens. You can find a few of these things from auction sites online thought, but you will still need to verify their authenticity if you are really serious about collecting the real deal and that can be pretty difficult to do if you are inexperienced and new to this hobby.
