Printed Mugs: Not Just Your Cup of Tea
Why are customs and traditions preserved? Perhaps it is for a good reason. And this may also be the same reason why in the advertising world some traditional items are still used as promotional items, such as Printed Mugs. It has managed to keep its wonders despite the many years it has been used in the advertising market. Like antiques, the more they age, the more valuable they become. Some may call it obsolete, but hey it still works.
Aren't we reminded of the brand that gave it to us every time we drink our hot coffee from that good old promotional mug? Some would even make it as their collection. Feasibly, in this time and age, for these mugs to catch up with the modern times, it just needs a little make over—like printing modern designs and eccentric shapes, they don't always have to be cylindrical in shape and plain in colour.
Various Methods of Printing Promotional Mugs

Digital printing: This is often used in High Resolution painting and those with pictures. A sticker-like material is printed and is applied to the mug.

Full colour printing: This is recommend if the design is of large scale, like wrap-around printing. This technique uses the four colour scale and can be used in smooth, rough, or uneven surfaces.

Screen printing: This type of printing promotional mugs is the simplest and fastest approach used. This is ideal if you plan to print hundreds to thousands of Printed Mugs. The downside, however, is the print is not as well defined as that of digital printing.

Dye sublimation: This is the unique printing technique of them all. This uses specialised ink and even organic dyes that release colours upon heat exposure.

Transfer printing: This is a more manual approach to printing wherein the design is transferred from the paper and manually transferred by hand. This usually takes a lot of time and is not recommended for bulk orders.

Laser etching: This is the newest technique used in Printed Mugs. The glass from the mug gives a carved appearance through the laser etching. It produces high definition printing to the promotional mugs.

Pictures: Commonly used for souvenir items, pictures can be directly printed to the mug.

Slogans: Most companies have their own slogans that convey the message that they want to send across to their customers. It can be done through conventional printing or the newer laser etching technique.
