Custom Picture Frames for Paintings and Photos
When it comes to Wall Art, you have quite a few options in custom picture frames. There is however a right and a wrong way to do everything, and that includes framing Fine Art and photography. The essential custom picture framing supplies are definitely a necessity, including Picture Frame moulding and of course, the custom picture frames themselves.
Whether you're using custom wood picture frames, metal or some other material, it's better to simply slap those pictures on the wall with double-stick tape rather than do an inadequate job of framing.
A Step At a Time
The first step is to choose custom picture frames that are appropriate not only for the image being framed, but also for the décor of the room in which it will be displayed. You do not what the picture frame moulding to take away the viewer's attention from the art itself.
In addition to custom wood frames or metal frames and the picture frame moulding, other custom picture framing supplies you'll need include:
• mount board
• photo corners
• matting
• clear glass or acrylic
Each of these custom picture framing supplies has a specific use, the purpose of which is to protect the artifact from sunlight, moisture and environmental pollutants – all of which can make short work of any work of fine art.
Some tools that you'll need are:
• mat board cutter
• straight edge
• t-square
• patience and practice (!)
Moving Forward
What has just been discussed are the necessities. Your choice of picture frame moulding should be guided by the interior décor and your own personal taste; there are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to picture frame moulding.
Regardless of which custom picture frames you choose, make certain that the necessary supplies (mat board, etc.) have been treated with some sort of alkaline substance so as to protect the image from acid damage. By taking care of the basics, your custom picture frames will serve you well for years to come.
