Cuba Vacation Guide - An Introduction
The Republic of Cuba is an island country in the Caribbean. It consists of the island of Cuba, the Isla de la Juventud, and several smaller islands, islets, and cays. Cuba is the largest island of the West Indies group almost equal in area to Pennsylvania a state in USA. In fact, Cuba is also the westernmost of West Indies group of islands, just west of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and just 145 km south of Key West, Fla. USA, at the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico. Havana is the largest city in Cuba and the country's capital. Santiago de Cuba is the second largest city.
With 3735 kilometers of coastline, Cuba offers dozens of kilometers of world's best beaches with crystal clear water and soft sand. Cuba has a well preserved ecology, abounding nature, friendly people and a rich heritage. All these factors make Cuba a booming tourist destination attracting millions visitors from all around the world every year.
Cuba is much more than all inclusive resort in Varadero. Cuba is best experienced by venturing out of confines of your hotel or resort. Rent a car, go off the beaten track and follow your instincts and just be prepared to be overwhelmed by the pleasant sights and sounds of Cuba. Cuba is a safe country with minimal crime and tourists are well looked after by local police. People are fun loving and welcome tourists with big smile and warm hearts.
Cuba is home to 16,500 species of animals and about 90% are endemic. There is something for tourists for every budget and age to enjoy in Cuba. If you prefer sun and beach, then just relax on its exotic beaches. If you are interested in culture and history then Cuba won't disappoint you, it is abound with many historical sights. Havana is a host to many great events and festivals to suit anyone's taste. There are over three hundred museums in Cuba catering to art, science and technology, anthropology and ethnography, but most (68) are focused on Cuba 's eventful history. Havana is a live museum of various architectural styles some reaching as far back as 16th century when Spanish colonization started. Cuba is a great place for Wild Life and nature lovers with many national parks and biosphere reserves like Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, Peninsula de Zapata National Park, Baconao Park and Biosphere Reserve and many more. Beaches like Pilar beach also offer snorkeling experience, catamaran rides for sea lovers. Holguin Bahia de Naranjo Nature Park which has an aquarium in the middle of the sea. Located in the bay of the same name, it can only be accessed on speedboats that carry tourists from mainland. Vacationers can watch a wide range of marine species and even take a swim with some of them.
