Things To Do On Fraser Island
Spanning over 122 kilometers in length, Fraser Island can be found diagonally opposite to the southern coast of Queensland, off the Hervey Bay coastline. Covering a total area of approximately 184,000 hectares and measuring thirty kilometers in width, at its widest point, this remarkably stunning Island is acknowledged as the biggest sand island in the world . It is also a proud member of the world Heritage List due to its wonderful natural environment. EU history was only thought to have started in 1802, when Matthew Flinders explored the area. Now, Fraser Island is a wonderful place to go to and a highly recommended holiday destination for travellers visiting or living in Queensland.
Fraser Island is an Australian location, exhibiting true natural beauty. It is covered by lush rainforests entwined by free flowing streams, bordered by miles of white stained beaches and remarkably colourful sand cliffs, surrounded by cool sea waters, and often cloaked in a blissfully tranquil atmosphere.
Fraser Island Accommodation
With many visitors trekking over from the mainland, plenty of the public and private sites expediently provide campers with toilet blocks, running water and shower facilities. Accessing Fraser Island is straightforward, Island guests have the option of light aircrafts, passenger and auto ferries, tour groups and private boats. All automobiles being transported over to Fraser Island do need a permit though.
Fraser Island Activities And Attractions
Other engaging places to go to include Central Station, the landmark known as Indian Head, Eli stream, The champagne Pools and chuffed Valley. The encircling seas are also known to host dugongs, sea turtles and friendly dolphins.
There's also the chance to experience some superb diving expeditions round the many shipwrecks, including that of the Maheno.
The only method to get around Fraser Island is in a 4WD automobile. A perfect choice of 4WD is a 4WD camper as it is fully kitted out with all camping requirements.
A 4WD camper is a 4WD that is professionally equipped for exploring outdoors.
A four hour drive up the Bruce highway, turning off to Hervey Bay, will get you and your 4WD camper to the Fraser Island ferry service.
Prices for a return vehicle range between $80 and $140 at the time of printing. Bookings are needed and times and fares can be certified when placing your booking. there are numerous drop off points for the different ferries. You should ensure that your ferry is headed for your personal destination.
Fraser Island is quite unique in the eastern beaches make up a road and also an airport. You need concentrate and not be too engrossed in the scenery to avoid running down fishermen, children, dingoes and colliding with planes and other 4WDs.
