any good alternative for prismacolor?
cause here in the Philippines, prismacolor doesn't exist, yeah it's not sold in any bookstore or whateverstore
when i last visited the National bookstore (the biggest seller of art suppiles etc. in our country and it has many stores nationwide)
i only saw:
Faber castell (classic colors and watercolor) the most common you can find it anywhere
Lyra (the rounded-triangular shaped ones)
Crayola - this one's quite rare cause i only saw few stocked
Staedler - another common you can find this in any branch of National bookstore
Fraternity
and some chinese brand i can't even understand the writing (i'm not chinese)
Of all the brands you listed, Faber Castell is the best. If possible, try to get Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Colored Pencils, they would be my first choice as these are professional quality. The next choice would be Staedler colored pencils followed by the Lyra pencils. I had actually never heard of the Lyra pencils until now and from what I've read, they seem to be suited to school use rather than professional use. Crayola is definitely not professional quality and is suitable for students in school who are not taking a serious art course. It's really a shame that you are unable to get the Prismacolor, but maybe if you asked the store might take a chance and order some to see if they sell. Tell them that you are a serious art student who needs professional quality colored pencils and that Prismacolor Premier are the best. Other than that, if you have a relative or friend coming for a visit from the States, maybe you could ask them to bring you a set of the Prismacolors.
