Buffalo Sabers Tickets - Better to Book in Advance for Some Amazing Games
Local businessmen Seymour and Northrup Knox formed the Buffalo Sabers ice hockey team in 1970. Former Toronto Maple Leaf’s coach Punch Imlach was hired as the coach and general manager of the team. The Sabers became a part of the NHL in 1971. They have given hockey fans some very memorable games. This season is expected to be a good one for the Sabers. I If you are a Sabers fan as well, it is better to book your Buffalo Sabers tickets in advance.
The Games
The Sabers played their first game at the Buffalo Auditorium. They won the first pick in their inaugural entry draft and selected Gilbert Perreault. The 70-71 season earned the Sabers 24 wins and 63 points. Gilbert Perreault got the Calder Trophy for NHL’s best rookie with 38 goals and 72 points. In the 71-72 season the Sabers drafted Rick Martin and Rene Robert. Martin scored a total of 44 goals. They were named the “French Connection” the link going to their French Canadian roots. They made their first playoff in 72-73 losing to Montreal Canadians in the quarterfinals. In 75-76 the French connection enjoyed Dany Gare’s company. They continued to score well but failing to score a Cup win.
The 95-96 season saw Sabers as the most hard working hockey team under coach Ted Nolan. Even though the team had no wins the Buffalo Sabers tickets sold well, with their increasing fanfare. That season Randy Burridge scored 25 goals and earned the TM Horton Award. He was also voted as the team’s Most Valuable Player. The year 95-96 saw Nolan winning the Jack Adam Award as NHL’s top coach. Dominik Hasek the goaltender won the Hart and Vezina Trophies and Michael Peca won the Frank J Selke Trophy for the best defensive forward in NHL.
In 1999,the Sabers entered the Stanley Cup Finals against Dallas Stars. However Stars won the game. The next few years were a low period for the team. On March 19 in 2003 Sabers was sold to Tom Golisano, a New York based billionaire. That season saw some very good games. On 2003 New Year’s Eve Sabers, Maxim Afinogenov and Miroslav Satan scored hat tricks against Washington Capitals and won the game at 7-1.
The 05-06 season saw the best of the Sabers. They earned 52 wins and 110 points that season. In 06-07 season the team came out with new uniforms and logos. Those with Buffalo Sabers tickets were the lucky ones to see their new jersey in public on September 16th. The new Sabers bison logo got some resistance from the fans. However that did not affect the Buffalo Sabers tickets sale. In November 06 the Sabers defeated the Rangers setting a new NHL record for consecutive wins at the season start. In April 07 Sabers won the President’s Trophy defeating Washington Capitals for the first time in franchisee history.
The January 1 2008 game against the Pittsberg Penguins is expected to be a major game. The Buffalo Sabers tickets are already on sale. It is better to book in advance in order to get good seats. You can either get tickets online or through a local ticket broker. If you order online the tickets will be shipped to you within 24 hours. Various online ticket brokers offer cheap tickets also. Therefore do look around before buying tickets for yourself, family and friends.
