The Inuit are renowned for their soapstone carvings. Why did this skill develop? I really don`t know. I would imagine when it`s nightime for 6 months and you are stuck in an igloo, you gotta do something else besides the obvious to pass the time. Indianica Inuit Art and Native Craft Gallery
