New Van Gogh Exhibition in Rome | 2010 New Exhibitions in Italy | Christmas in Rome
Vincent Van Gogh returns to Rome after more than 22 years with a new and comprehensive exhibition on show at the Vittoriano complex by the Imperial Forum in downtown Rome to further mark the art of the great Dutch post-impressionist master Van Gogh.
From October 8 to February 6, 2011 Rome offers the opportunity to enjoy a world class exhibition: "Vincent van Gogh: Timeless Countryside and Modern City"
If you love art and plan to visit Rome between October 2010 and February 2011 do not miss the chance to visit Van Gogh Rome exhibition with more than 110 masterpieces celebrating art.
The Van Gogh exhibition runs until Feb. 6th 2011 at the Vittoriano monument in Rome featuring 70 of Van Gogh's masterpieces brought together by the curator Cornelia Homburg, one of the most important experts of the Dutch genius, in cooperation with art galleries and museums from across Europe and North America in addition to some 30 works by other major artists who provided inspiration for Van Gogh Art From Cèzanne and Millet to Pissarro, Seurat and Gauguin also to highlight Van Gogh's close relationship with past masters and contemporary artists.
The main part of the exhibition focuses on Van Gogh's own artwork explored through his favorite subject matters and the rural-urban dichotomy: love for the timeless countryside and its unchanging environment contrasted with fascination with the fast moving modern city life due to the time Ban Gogh spent mainly in Paris.
"There won't be the Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Still Life" – said Ms. Homburg – "But, next to best known works, audience will be able to admire for the first time private collections' paintings"
